Crane Assembled for 77 Greenwich Street as The Financial District’s Residential Skyscraper Boom Continues Apace

Progress at 77 Greenwich Street has hit another milestone, with the tower crane now rising on-site. Located in Lower Manhattan between Trinity Place, Greenwich Street, Rector Street, and Edgar Street, the FX Collaborative-designed tower is set to rise 500 feet to its rooftop, and also has an address of 42 Trinity Place. Inside, 90 condominiums will be situated atop a podium containing a grade school and retail space.  The 40-story project is being developed by Trinity Place Holdings.

Excavation Begins for FXFOWLE-Designed 77 Greenwich Street, Financial District

The future site of the FXFOWLE-designed 77 Greenwich Street, a.k.a 42 Trinity Place, has seen substantial progress since YIMBY last checked in on what will eventually become a 40-story and 500-foot tall residential building, back when permits were filed in September of 2016. Demolition of the site’s former occupants is now complete, and excavation is well underway.

Less Overhang Paves Way for Landmarks Approval of Mixed-Use Tower at 77 Greenwich Street

A 35-story mixed-use project in the Financial District can now go forward, thanks to approval from the Landmarks Preservation on Tuesday. The project is at 77 Greenwich Street (a.k.a. 42 Trinity Place) and needed LPC approval because it would cantilever over the Robert and Anne Dickey House, an individual landmark immediately to the south at 67 Greenwich Street (a.k.a. 28-30 Trinity Place). The changes to the design weren’t too dramatic and one of them was described as a “no-brainer” by the LPC chair.
