New Rendering Posted for The Charlotte at 25 Columbus Drive in Jersey City

A new rendering with a slightly modified exterior design has been posted on the construction fence of 25 Columbus Drive, along with a new name: The Charlotte. Meanwhile, work on the ground level of the 626-foot-tall Jersey City property is underway. The 57-story skyscraper is designed by Handel Architects and being developed by Mack-Cali, with Fogarty Finger as the interior architect. The structure will contain a total of 750 rental apartments, a 35,000-square-foot privately funded public school for pre-K through first grade, four storefronts covering 16,485 square feet of retail space, and a public plaza.

The first stages of excavation at 25 Columbus Drive are apparent as the asphalt from the former parking lot is now being ripped up. This will become the future site of a new mixed-use complex that will rise 626 feet tall and 57 floors high. 750-Unit Mixed-Use Tower With School Proposed At 25 Columbus Drive, Jersey City

Joint venture PH Urban Renewal, comprised of developers L+M Development Partners and Low-Income Housing Corporation, is proposing to develop a mixed-use tower at 25 Columbus Drive, in the Paulus Hook section of Jersey City. At this point, the project is expected to include up to 750 residential units, of which five percent (37 units) would be designated as affordable, the Jersey Journal reported. The tower’s base would feature a 35,000-square-foot, 200-student privately-funded public school for levels pre-K through first grade.
