Touring the Under Construction Condo Conversion at 212 Fifth Avenue, Flatiron District

The Neo-Gothic high-rise at 212 Fifth Avenue has occupied a wedge-shaped plot just north of Madison Square Park since 1912. It once held furniture and garment manufacturers, who had their offices on the upper floors and massive showrooms on the lower ones. Now, Madison and Thor Equities are converting the 24-story building to condos, and they’re restoring the landmarked limestone facade and cornices in the process. New Renderings Of 24-Story, 48-Unit Condo Conversion At 212 Fifth Avenue, NoMad

Early last month, the residential conversion of the 24-story commercial building at 212 Fifth Avenue, in NoMad, was underway, and now Curbed has uncovered new exterior and interior renderings of the project. Forty-eight condominiums are being carved out of the existing structure, and the units will be large, with some measuring 1,500 square feet, and larger configurations measuring north of 4,000 square feet. Madison Equities and Thor Equities are developing, while Helpern Architects is designing. Sales have already launched, and completion is expected next spring.


48-Unit Residential Conversion Underway At 212 Fifth Avenue, NoMad

Earlier this spring, YIMBY reported on the approval of the planned residential conversion of the 24-story 212 Fifth Avenue, in NoMad, and now the project is underway, according to The New York Times. Madison Equities, Thor Equities, and Building and Land Technology are developing, and 48 condominiums are being carved out of the structure, ranging from two to four bedrooms apiece. Helpern Architects is designing, and a spring 2016 delivery date is anticipated.


Landmarks Approves Residential Conversion Of 212 Fifth Avenue

212 Fifth Avenue will see new life as a residential building. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved changes to the structure, which was originally constructed as an office building in 1913. The redevelopment of the building is being done by Building & Land Technology, Madison Equities and Thor Equities.
