Victory Plaza, a 100-Percent Affordable Housing Development for Seniors, Opens in Central Harlem

Victory Plaza has officially opened in Central Harlem. The nine-story, 136-unit development with 100 percent affordable housing for seniors is located at 11 West 118th Street. Developed by Camber Property Group in partnership with Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement (HCCI), the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development, and the New York City Housing Development Corporation, the building is designed by Aufgang Architects.

Affordable Housing Development 2050 Grand Concourse Tops Out in West Bronx

A Magnusson Architecture and Planning-designed mixed-use development addressed as 2050 Grand Concourse recently topped off in the Bronx’s Fordham Heights neighborhood. Developed by New York-based nonprofit Unique People Services and Robert Sanborn Development, the 13-story, 86,195-square-foot structure will have affordable housing and community facility space.

The 20,000-square-foot site borders along Ninth Avenue, West 219th Street, and West 218th Street, and is addressed as 201 West 218th Street. The nearest transit is the 215th Street subway station, serviced by the 1 train. Peter Fine of Bolivar Development under the 400 West 219 LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The affordable housing lottery opened yesterday for The Garnet, an 11-story mixed-use development at 1620 Fulton Street in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Developed by BFC Partners and designed by Shakespeare Gordon Vlado Architects, the 106,672-square-foot building will yield 130 units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 94 units for residents at 50 to 150 percent of the area median income, ranging in eligible income from $25,372 to $184,200. Approximately 50 percent of the apartments will be set aside for community board residents.

Today’s housing lottery round-up features seven buildings in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and The Bronx with affordable units on Housing Connect with deadlines closing within the next seven days. Unfortunately, an update to the Housing Connect website this week has apparently left the system rather glitchy, as it now lists incorrect numbers of units remaining, and the photos and renderings have similarly become defunct, all in the midst of New York City’s worst housing crisis since the 1930s.
