14-Story Building At 315 West 35th Street Slated For Condo Conversion, Garment District

Isaac Chetrit and Jacob Aini have won a bid to acquire the 14-story, 63,000 square-foot commercial property at 315 West 35th Street, in the Garment District, for $43 million. The new owners plan to convert the vacant building into residential condominiums. The building was placed up for auction after the previous owner, developer Aaron Chitrik, defaulted on the property’s mortgage, according to The Real Deal.


513 East 161st Street

Old Bronx Borough Courthouse At 513 East 161st Street Getting Renovation, Morrisania

Brooklyn developer Henry Weinstein is planning to renovate and refurbish the landmarked, century-old former Bronx Borough Courthouse building at 513 East 161st Street, in Morrisania. The building is expected to reopen in 2017 with 115,000 square feet of leasable space over nine floors, according to The New York Times. No Longer Empty, an art group, is currently utilizing the building and plans to take space after the renovations.


1051 Sherman Avenue

Seven-Story Mosque Planned At 1051 Sherman Avenue, Concourse

Amara Kenneh, imam of Masjid Nur Al-Islam, has filed applications to build a seven-story, seven-dwelling-unit mosque at the vacant lot of 1051 Sherman Avenue, in the Concourse, three blocks in from the Grand Concourse and six blocks from the 167th Street stop on the B/D trains. The structure will measure 24,506 square feet in total, and Nazhat Aboobaker’s Invision Engineers is the applicant of record.


626 1st Avenue

Cladding Appears At 626 First Avenue, Twin-Towered Development Rising in Murray Hill

JDS Development’s 41- and 48-story residential towers planned at 626 First Avenue, on the East River in Murray Hill, are now rising quickly, per Curbed. Construction began nearly a year ago, and completion of the 800-rental-unit development is expected in 2017. SHoP Architects is designing, and façade installation has also begun closer to street level. A 38,000 square-foot park is planned to surround the base of the project.


23-10 Queens Plaza South

44-Story Residential Tower Nearly Halfway Up At 23-10 Queens Plaza South, Long Island City

Nearly a year ago, construction kicked off at 23-10 Queens Plaza South — aka 23-01 42nd Road, in Long Island City — where Property Markets Group is developing a 44-story, 391-unit residential tower, with 30,650 square feet of office space on the third floor. Now the building is up to the 20th floor, according to The Court Square Blog, and glass is quickly encasing the structure. SLCE Architects is the architect of record, and completion is likely in 2016.
