Construction Begins On Pier 3 Of Brooklyn Bridge Park in Brooklyn Heights

Ground has recently been broken to transform Pier 3, located within Brooklyn Bridge Park in Brooklyn Heights, into a functional park. Pier 3 represents the last portion of the Brooklyn Bridge Park project. It will feature a large lawn, a playground, walking paths, vegetation, and a plaza, according to a rendering released by Curbed NY. This portion of Brooklyn Bridge Park is estimated to cost $26 million and is scheduled to be completed in 2018. Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates is the landscape architect.


136 Summit Avenue

Nine-Story, 99-Unit Mixed-Use Building Approved For 136 Summit Avenue, Jersey City

The Jersey City Planning Board recently approved plans for a nine-story, 99-unit mixed-use building at 136 Summit Avenue, located on the corner of Fairmount Avenue in Jersey City’s McGinley Square section. The project will include 2,240 square feet of retail space and a 75-car parking garage. Monticello Equities is the developer and Kushner Studios is behind the architecture. The site is currently occupied by a three-story medical building. A construction timeline has not been disclosed, Jersey Digs reported.


4511 Eighth Avenue

Six-Story, 48-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned At 4511 Eighth Avenue, Sunset Park

An anonymous Brooklyn-based LLC has filed applications for a six-story, 48-unit mixed-use building at 4511 Eighth Avenue, located on the corner of 46th Street in Sunset Park. The project will measure 91,382 square feet and rise 70 feet above street level. The ground floor will host a 12,648-square-foot supermarket and the second floor will feature a 12,995-square-foot children’s daycare facility. The residential units, on the third through sixth floors, should average 778 square feet apiece, indicative of rental apartments.


16 Melrose Street

Three Four-Story, Four-Unit Residential Buildings Coming To 16 Melrose Street, Bushwick

An anonymous Flushing-based LLC has filed applications for two four-story, four-unit residential buildings at 16-18 Melrose Street, in western Bushwick. The buildings will each measure 5,084 square feet and 4,432 square feet, respectively. Across both, the full-floor residential units should average 1,190 square feet apiece, which means condominiums are likely in the works. Pirooz Soltanizadeh’s Jamaica-based Royal Engineering is the applicant of record. The 47-foot-wide, 4,474-square-foot site is vacant. The Myrtle Avenue stop on the J and M trains is a stone’s throw away.


224 North 6th Street

Four-Story, Three-Unit Residential Building Filed For 224 North 6th Street, Williamsburg

An anonymous Hudson Square-based LLC has filed applications for a four-story, three-unit residential building at 224 North 6th Street, in North Williamsburg. The project will measure 4,980 square feet, which means its residential units should average 1,660 square feet apiece, indicative of condominiums. There will be two duplexes and one triplex apartment. Two of the units will also have access to space in an upper penthouse level. Hudson Square-based Jorge Mastropierto Architects Atelier is the architect of record. The 25-foot-wide, 2,500-square-foot site is currently occupied by a two-story townhouse. Demolition permits have not been filed.
