Eastlight Wraps Up Construction at 200 East 34th Street in Kips Bay, Manhattan

Construction is complete on Eastlight, a 34-story residential tower at 200 East 34th Street in Kips Bay. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by 200 East 34th LLC, the 388-foot-tall structure yields 135,094 square feet with 144 condominium units in studio to two-bedroom layouts and 2,992 square feet of commercial space on the lower levels. Noble Construction Group was the general contractor for the property, which is located at the southeastern corner of Third Avenue and East 34th Street.

Hudson Arts Building’s Foundations Progress at 220 Eleventh Avenue in West Chelsea, Manhattan

Foundation work is progressing for the Hudson Arts Building, a ten-story commercial structure at 220 Eleventh Avenue in West Chelsea. Designed by STUDIOS Architecture and developed by The Moinian Group, the 145-foot-tall project will yield office space with column-free floor plates ranging from 17,500 to 25,000 square feet, as well as retail space. 220 Eleventh LLC is the owner, AECOM Tishman is the general contractor, and JLL is the exclusive leasing agent for the property, which is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 25th Street and West 26th Streets.

Terminal Warehouse Expansion Progresses at 261 Eleventh Avenue in West Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is progressing on Terminal Warehouse, where a seven-story commercial addition is being constructed above the historic 132-year-old building at 261 Eleventh Avenue in West Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by L&L Holding Company and Columbia Property Trust, the $1.25 billion project was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in January 2020 and will reinvigorate the structure with a mix of Class A office suites, retail space, and multiple dining options. New Line Structures & Development is the general contractor for the property, which spans an entire city block bound by West 28th Street to the north, West 27th Street to the south, Eleventh Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.

East Side Access Project’s Grand Central Madison Station Opens in Midtown East, Manhattan

A infrastructure project more than a half century in the making has finally reached the finish line with last week’s official opening of the Grand Central Madison station, the centerpiece of the $11.1 billion East Side Access plan to bring Long Island Rail Road service to Grand Central Terminal in Midtown East. Multiple companies designed, engineered, and collaborated on the project and include AECOM and Jacobs as project managers; WSP as a managing partner of a three-firm joint venture that includes STV and Parsons; Tutor Perini Corporation; Dragados; Judlau Contracting; Skanska; Michels; Comstock; Halmar International; Schiavone; Piccone; Five Star; Yonkers Electric; Tully Environmental; and EJ Electric. The new terminal sits 150 feet below the existing Grand Central facility, along Vanderbilt Avenue between East 43rd and East 48th Streets. The first ceremonial train ran from the Jamaica station in Queens and arrived at the Grand Central Madison station on January 25 at 11:07 a.m.

Excavation Underway for Riverwalk 9 at 430 Main Street on Roosevelt Island

Excavation is progressing for Riverwalk 9, a 28-story residential building at 430 Main Street on Roosevelt Island. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Related Companies and The Hudson Companies, the 305-foot tall, 292,865-square foot structure will yield 253 market-rate rental apartments in studio to three-bedroom layouts, with 104 units reserved for employees of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), as well as 3,700 square feet of ground-floor office space for the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation. Monadnock Construction is the general contractor for the project, the final component of the Riverwalk master plan, located along Main Street just east of the Riverwalk Commons green lawn.

142-150 South Portland Avenue Begins Façade Installation in Fort Greene, Brooklyn

Exterior work is progressing on 142-150 South Portland Avenue, a 13-story mixed-use building in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by OCV Architects and developed by South Portland LLC, the 129-foot-tall structure will span 105,749 square feet and yield 100 below-market-rate rental units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, a below-ground medical facility, and 9,891 square feet of community facility space. The project also includes a 30-foot-long rear yard. Lettire Construction Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is located between South Elliott Place and Hanson Place.

John A. Paulson Center Completes Construction at 181 Mercer Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction is complete on the John A. Paulson Center, a 23-story academic building for New York University at 181 Mercer Street in Greenwich Village. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and KieranTimberlake, the 735,000-square-foot structure is the largest expansion in the history of the campus and consists of three glass-clad towers rising from a podium spanning a full city block. Permasteelisa engineered and manufactured the facade, and Turner Construction Company was the contractor for the $1.2 billion project, which is bound by Bleecker Street to the north, Houston Street to the south, Mercer Street to the east, and I.M. Pei’s University Village complex to the west.

450 Eleventh Avenue’s Façade Progresses Slowly in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Curtain wall installation is slowly progressing on 450 Eleventh Avenue, a 51-story hotel skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Designed by DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the 642-foot-tall structure will yield 379 guest rooms, a business center, a ballroom, and a fourth-floor restaurant with a bar and an outdoor terrace. Atria Builders is the general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan property, which is located at the corner of West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

12 Broome Street’s Exterior Takes Shape in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Construction continues on 12 Broome Street, a four-story residential building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by ABA Studio DPC and developed by Broome Residence LLC, the 4,728-square-foot structure will yield four units spanning between 1,040 to 1,324 square feet each. S. Goolcharan Construction is the general contractor of the property, which is located between McGuinness Boulevard to the east and Graham Avenue to the west.

201-207 7th Avenue - Amie Gross Architects

Demolition Continues at 201-207 Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Demolition is progressing at 201-207 Seventh Avenue, the site of a nine-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Amie Gross Architects and developed by New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the 85-foot-tall structure will span 30,859 square feet and yield 26 affordable co-op units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, as well as 1,828 square feet of retail space divided among three tenants. Star Companies is the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 170 West 22nd Street and located at the southeast corner of Seventh Avenue and West 22nd Street.
