Work is underway at 842 Sixth Avenue in NoMad, where the world’s tallest modular hotel will soon rise. Designed by Danny Forster & Architecture, the 26-story building will house the AC NoMad Hotel by Marriott International and will eclipse the Lower East Side’s citizenM New York Bowery Hotel for the record. Concord Hospitality is the developer of the 100,000-square-foot project, which will contain 168 guest rooms, terraces, and a rooftop bar.

FXCollaborative Celebrates Topping Out of One Willoughby Square, the Tallest New Office Building in Downtown Brooklyn

YIMBY recently attended the topping-out ceremony and ribbon cutting of One Willoughby Square, aka 420 Albee Square, in Downtown Brooklyn. The 34-story, 495-foot-tall reinforced concrete skyscraper is the tallest new office building in Brooklyn and will contain 500,000 square feet of newly built Class A office space. FXCollaborative is the designer and JEMB Realty is the developer of the project. Gilbane Building Company is in charge of the construction.

The Symon’s Façade Takes Shape at 76 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights

Work is moving along on the exterior of The Symon, a 13-story residential building at 76 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights. Installation of the brick façade and windows on the main northern elevation is nearly complete. Designed by Eugene Colberg of Colberg Architecture, the development will contain 59 units, which will range from one- to four-bedrooms layouts. Studio DB is the interior designer for the residences, amenity spaces, and the curtain wall. Lonicera PartnersOrange Management, and The Davis Companies are developing the property.

Klövern and GDS Development Break Ground on 28 & 7 Office Building, at 322-326 Seventh Avenue, in Chelsea

Klövern and GDS Development recently broke ground on a new Manhattan boutique office project in Chelsea, called 28 & 7. Skidmore Owings & Merrill is the designer of the 12-story, class A office structure, which is located at 322-326 Seventh Avenue and is one of three properties that the two developers are working together on in New York City. Klövern is aiming to bring a more Scandinavian-inspired approach to the office market with higher sustainability standards and a more “human-scaled” design approach.

The Tin Building’s Relocation And Reconstruction Taking Shape In South Street Seaport

The reconstruction of the landmarked Tin Building is making steady progress in Manhattan’s South Street Seaport District. The original structure, made mostly of a wooden frame featuring an exterior of corrugated metal sheets, suffered a major fire in 1995 and later weathered extensive flood damage from Hurricane Sandy in 2012. After approvals from the city’s Landmark Preservation Commission in 2016, the structure was carefully dismantled and is now being rebuilt 33 feet away from its original location, directly to the west of Pier 17. SHoP Architects is in charge of the design and renovations, while the Howard Hughes Corporation is the developer of the project. Plaza Construction is the construction manager for the property.
