Construction has topped out on 120 Water Street, a 28-story Hotel Indigo in the Financial District. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Atlas Hospitality, the slender reinforced concrete superstructure will yield 52,000 square feet with 128 hotel rooms managed by Fortuna Realty Group.
Work on the reconstruction of the historic Tin Building is making swift progress in the South Street Seaport District. Located on the rebuilt Pier 17 and next to the FDR Drive, the three-story steel-framed structure is being rebuilt 32 feet away from its original location and six feet higher above sea level. The 53,000-square-foot commercial project is designed by SHoP Architects and developed by the Howard Hughes Corporation, with Plaza Construction as the construction manager.
The new and upgraded Elizabeth H. Berger Plaza is quickly taking shape in the Financial District. The project combines two underutilized concrete plazas and merges them together to form a singular green public space that measures about two-thirds of an acre. George Vellonakis is the landscape architect of the property, which sits on what used to be a neighborhood called Little Syria. The park is named after the late Downtown Alliance president Elizabeth Berger, who died in 2013.
Exterior work is nearing completion on 77 Greenwich Street, a 42-story mixed-use residential skyscraper in the Financial District. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Trinity Place Holdings, the 500-foot-tall project will yield 90 condominiums ranging from one- to four-bedroom layouts with interiors designed by Deborah Berke Partners.
Construction is nearing the halfway mark at 1230 Madison Avenue, a Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed residential building on the Upper East Side. The reinforced concrete superstructure is starting to reach the height of its abutting low-rise neighbors and will eventually top out at 208 feet tall. Located in Carnegie Hill on the same block as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the 20-story project is being developed by Real Estate Equities Corporation (R.E.E.C.) with SLCE Architects as the architect of record.
