New Renderings Appear for Supertall 5 World Trade Center

For the second time in 2018, YIMBY has a new look for Five World Trade Center. The latest rendering was found by a reader on the project’s fencing in the Financial District. The image shows a glassy building with a triangular motif reminiscent of the David Childs-designed 1 WTC. The depiction is roughly 70 stories in height, which could indicate yet another supertall is planned for the area.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Steiner’s 399 Sands Street, Brooklyn Navy Yard

Last December, YIMBY revealed the renderings for 399 Sands Street in the Brooklyn Navy Yard Industrial Park. Now, the official groundbreaking for the nine-story office building has occurred. The structure will house between 700 to 1,000 jobs once complete. It is part of the $1 billion redevelopment project dedicated to fueling New York City’s economy with infrastructure for 10,000 new jobs in manufacturing and creative businesses. The non-profit Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is realizing the project through private developers, and Steiner NYC is responsible for 399 Sands Street.

Permits have been filed for a seven-story residential building at 744 East 21st Street in FlatbushDitmas Park, Brooklyn. The site is six blocks away from the Newkirk Plaza subway station, serviced by the Q train, and eleven blocks away from the Flatbush Avenue subway station, end of the line for 2 and 5 trains, and center of a major commercial thoroughfare. Yaakov Geldzahler of Triple C Builders LLC is listed as behind the applications.
