The Set Wraps Up Construction at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

The Set. Designed by Handel Architects

Exterior work is nearing completion on The Set, a 44-story residential skyscraper at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards. Designed by Handel Architects and developed and built by Related Companies, the 587-foot-tall structure yields 270 rental units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, with optional full furnishing available. MAWD was the interior designer for the project, which is located at the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 35th Street.

Almost all of the remaining earth-toned terracotta panels have been installed between the floor-to-ceiling windows since our last update in March 2022, with just a few sections remaining on the southeast corner where the construction elevator had been attached. Sidewalk scaffolding still surrounds the property, but should be removed in the coming weeks once the final exterior panels are in place.

The back side is beautiful from views on color’s wall and windows, the stucture can show its height to contrast reflected glass and dark designation. Name and developer number standing on the line, choose an official position purposeful that linked amenities facilities below: Thanks to Michael Young.

  2. Boring facade, slight switch of vertical elements seems like a mistake or construction defect.

At a glance, it’s a nice transition from the new glass towers to the historical gem on the opposite side.
Upon closer look, the panel coloring and alignments are less successful.

  4. Looks much nicer up close.

  5. Overall, I think this building has turned out pretty nicely. It’s way better than The Spiral next to it.

  6. I actually think the different verticals are intentional—rough-hewn on the podium, and polished above! Nice—and big!
