Construction is wrapping up on the Margaritaville Resort New York at 560 Seventh Avenue in Times Square. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Sharif El-Gamal of Soho Properties along with MHP Real Estate Services, the 32-story, 375-foot-tall project is set to open next month with 234 guest rooms and island-inspired interiors designed by the McBride Company. The Midtown, Manhattan property is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 40th Street.

Recent photographs show the newly installed signage for Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville and the Land Shark Bar and Grill. There are two pairs of these signs on both the southern and eastern elevations of the multi-story podium, which is now fully encased in glass and only has minor exterior work along the ground floor and sidewalks left to be completed.

On top of the podium will be New York City’s only year-round heated outdoor swimming pool with an appropriate beach-themed design as part of the 140-seat Landshark Bar & Grill. Other eateries planned to operate are a two-story 492-seat Margaritaville Restaurant with a 32-foot-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty raising a margarita, a 75-seat indoor-outdoor License to Chill Bar and Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions on the fifth floor, and a two-story rooftop bar called the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar with wide views over Midtown.

Guest room features include walk-in rain showers, St. Somewhere bath amenities, a Keurig coffee maker, complimentary Wi-Fi and USB outlets, and Margaritaville bed linens. Margaritaville Resort New York is also slated to yield 4,861 square feet of ground-floor retail space with 160 feet of frontage spanning both West 40th Street and Seventh Avenue.

  1. Tourism is currently way down . Good thing they didn’t open a year earlier US would of had to bail them out. The success will be all based on whether Corona virus returns. On the positive , if tourism picks up and normalcy returns they should do just fine..

  2. It’s fun to see a development with a sense of whimsy! ?

  3. I’d go to the Margaritaville Restaurant here (492 seats), just to see the 32′ tall Statue of Liberty raising a margarita!

  4. I don’t know which is worse, the building or the signage. Both are really ugly.

That said, it is still huge improvement over what was there previously.

  5. I can’t believe there is such a thing this stupid.

  6. Man, this is so halariously stupid, yet I kind of like it. I mean, why not? ?
Aside from all the silliness, I think the building itself looks pretty good. It has a bit of a tacky flare, but I think it’s fine regardless of that.

  7. Are there any rides?

  8. this thing will be a goldmine
