308 Livingston Street’s Façade Installation Begins in Downtown Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 308 Livingston Street, a 160-unit rental project in Downtown Brooklyn. The 23-story building is designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and developed by Lonicera Partners, which purchased the property in May 2019 for $11 million. The site is located between Nevins and Bond Streets.

Photographs show the progress on the development since YIMBY’s last update in November, when the reinforced superstructure had just passed the halfway mark. Now nearly two-thirds of the edifice is enclosed in a plastic covering, while the perimeter of several floors above were spotted being assembled using metal frame studs and green boards that will hold up the final façade.

The main rendering depicts this exterior composed of dark charcoal brick walls with a grid of two- to three-story floor-to-ceiling rectangular cutouts, each framed with gold-colored trimmings. The pinnacle is defined with a relatively smooth and flat roof parapet and what looks like an open-air void made of columns and beams for an outdoor rooftop terrace. A small mechanical extension subtly pokes above the center of the building.

308 Livingston Street will contain a mix of one- and two-bedroom layouts, with each home featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious kitchens with stainless steel appliances and stone-clad bathrooms. Not much has been disclosed about residential amenities, but YIMBY will keep an eye out for these details. The residential building is conveniently located near a host of subways including the 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains at the Nevins Street station to the east at the intersection of Livingston Street and Flatbush Avenue; the A, C, and G trains at Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets station to the west; and the B, Q, and R trains underneath the City Point complex.

308 Livingston Street is reported to be completed by next winter.

An actual brick facade! This is quite well done adding needed contrast to the other new nearby buildings. The only quibble might be the base is completely detached from the facade above.

  2. Now we just need the facade to be completed!
