Permits have been filed for a 12-story mixed-use building at 42-62 Hunter Street in Hunters Point, Queens. Located between 42nd Road and the Ed Koch Queensboro Roadway, the interior lot is one block north of the Queens Plaza subway station, serviced by the E, M, and R trains. Also nearby are the Queensboro Plaza station, serviced by the 7, N, and W trains and the Court Square station, serviced by the 7 and G trains. Xi Zhao of Hunter Square LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 125-foot-tall development will yield 30,647 square feet, with 18,948 square feet designated for residential space and 3,357 square feet for commercial space. The building will have 27 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 701 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and a 30-foot-long rear yard.

Michael Kang Architect is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in August. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Huh??? Freeman Street subway station??? 2 and 5 Trains?!?! The picture you posted is smack in the middle of LIC. Do yourself a favor, Vanessa, take this article down, do a little proofreading, and then repost it. I don’t think you want your name associated with the article as it stands now.

    • Sometimes I think Vanessa is Yimby’s bot, based on the really glaring errors.

    • I always thought YMBY was authoritative. The only IRT train that I know of in LIC is the Flushing IRT, which young people (anyone under 50 to me) call the number 7 train.

  2. There are NO subway stops on Freeman Street. And even if there were, Freeman Street is in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, not LIC, Queens. The nearest subways to this project are Queensboro Plaza, Queens Plaza and Court Square, all in LIC and a good two miles (at least) from the nearest stop of the 2 train!

How can one write about NYC real estate and have zero knowledge of NYC geography?

  3. let’s help Vanessa.
The lot is 3 blocks southwest of the Queensboro Plaza station serviced by the N, W, 7 trains. It is also 2 blocks southeast of the Queens Plaza station serviced by the E, M, R trains, and 3 blocks north of the Court Square station serviced by the E,G,M,7 trains

Thanks for the help everyone. It was a human error, I’ll double check my work.

    • Vanessa is fantastic and even perfect writers still make mistakes / I do not like the mean-spirited comments here. !

  5. They took down the houses yesterday

  6. Demolish started last week, and right now they’re just about to wrap up debris removal.

they’ve also just started building the wooden fence around the lot, which seems to include also 27-20 42nd Rd (which hosted Pulsar Technology Systems) — do you have any news about that?
