Façade installation is progressing on the 234-room Margaritaville Resort at 560 Seventh Avenue in Times Square. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Sharif El-Gamal of Soho Properties along with MHP Real Estate Services, the 375-foot-tall tower is now almost fully enclosed in its glass window wall, with just the upper-most floors remaining. The 29-story structure is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 40th Street, one avenue to the east of the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The project is expected to cost around $300 million.

Recent photos show the state of construction since our last update in May. While not much progress has occurred near the pinnacle, the multi-story podium is now finished and fully clad.

Since the last update, the exterior hoist has been disassembled and the gap in the façade on the southwestern corner has been filled in. The podium will be topped with an outdoor swimming pool and a beach-themed lounge area with boardwalk floors and tropical decor. From there, the main tower rises in a mostly uniform volume, with the only deviation being a series of subtly protruding rectangular volumes on the southern elevation. The upper levels will house the mechanical units and equipment behind a concrete frame, which still remains exposed.

No renderings have been released so far that show the entirety of the Margaritaville Resort’s exterior, so the treatment of the crown remains to be seen. 560 Seventh Avenue will yield 4,861 square feet of retail space on the ground floor with 160 feet of frontage. The property will also include an additional three-story restaurant and a rooftop bar called the LandShark Bar & Grill.

The Margaritaville Resort will likely be completed sometime next year.

  1. Wish I were back again..anywhere.

  2. The concept is pretty fun. I don’t think the external design is fun though. It looks very cheap like the Virgin Hotel. I also don’t expect really anybody to stay at this hotel in the first place. So overall, the Margaritaville Resort is not very good.

  3. Is anything in the world less “margaritaville” than this? Also, that’s a damn ugly building.

  4. Take your time . NYC is empty. Msybe they can convert the hotel rooms to condo hotel rooms. For with Corona it willl be empty for next 18 months. They can always take the homeless.

  5. More like pigeonheads.

  6. NYC hotel occupancy is at about 10%. Amazing, that NYC rolled through the Civil War, WWI, WWII, the Cold War, an (actual) pandemic in 1918, the Depression, etc. etc. Nothing stopped the city from being crowded. It took a gangster governor, an imbecile Mayor, a corrupt media and a 100% fake “pandemic” fed to an ignorant populace to empty out the city.

Ok great, you proved that you can fool most of the people all of the time. What’s the next move?

  7. SteveO:
Although I don’t neceassarily agree with the idea that real estate issues can be divorced from politics in general,
I could not have said it better myself Steve.
Under a new President NYC will come back stronger, safer and better than before,
with the federal aid and support than we deserve, as the largest city in America!

  8. The homeless should not be housed in polished hotels. Your dirtbag Mayor should be in jail but, the majority of NY Continue To Vote For Progressive Liberal Idiots. You Get What You Deserve..

  9. The homeless dont need to be placed in NYC polished hotels. DeBlasio should be jailed!! Most of NY/NYC residents continue to vote for Progressive Liberals. You Get What You Deserve!! Stop The Insanity & The BS!!
