Permits have been filed for an 11-story mixed-use building at 1978 Valentine Avenue in the Mount Hope section of the West Bronx. Located between East 178th Street and East 180th Street, the through lot is also addressed as 2000 Valentine Avenue. The site is less than a ten-minute walk east of the Tremont Avenue subway station, serviced by the B and D trains. Bronx Haven LLC under the Camber Property Group is listed as the owner behind the applications. In January 2020, Camber acquired 2000 Valentine Avenue as part of an eight-building portfolio that contains 1,275 affordable units in the Mitchell-Lama program.

The proposed 104-foot-tall development will yield 429,611 square feet, with 333,970 square feet designated for residential space and 45,641 square feet for community facility space. The building will have 181 residences, with an average unit scope of 1,845 square feet. The masonry-based structure will also have a basement and ten enclosed parking spaces.

“Affordable housing and community-centric development is key to restarting the City’s economy and Bronx Park Haven at 1798 Valentine Ave will do just that, said Rick Gropper, principal and co-founder of Camber Property Group. “Bronx Park Haven is a model for the future in that we are using excess land associated with existing Mitchell Lama housing to create a brand new, 100% affordable building.”

Curtis & Ginsberg Architects is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits have not been filed. An estimated completion date has not been announced.
