Curtain wall installation is getting closer to completion on the Margaritaville Resort at 560 Seventh Avenue in Times Square. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Sharif El-Gamal of Soho Properties along with MHP Real Estate Services, the nearly $300 million project stands topped out at 29 stories on the corner of Seventh avenue and West 40th Street. The property will contain a total of 234 hotel rooms.

Recent shots from Tectonic show the ongoing construction. Thick scaffolding and netting shroud the podium floors, indicating that work on the envelope is likely taking place behind the assembly. An outdoor swimming pool and beach-themed amenity spaces will sit above the multi-story base. Meanwhile, the façade is nearing the top floors of the hotel and the raised mechanical section that caps the southern corner above the roof parapet. The main profile along West 40th Street now clearly shows the stacked three-story boxes, which are spaced two stories between each volume and slightly protrude from the flat fenestration of the reinforced concrete superstructure. The light and shadow in the photographs demonstrate the visual effect.

560 Seventh Avenue will eventually bring 4,861 square feet of retail space and 160 feet of retail frontage to the neighborhood. The property will also include an additional three-story restaurant and a rooftop bar called the LandShark Bar & Grill is also part of the program. Everything above the podium will be allocated to the hotel rooms.

The closest transit hubs to the property are the Times Square-42nd Street station with access to the N, Q, R, W, 1, 2, 3, 7, and S trains; the 42nd Street-Bryant Park with access to the B, D, F, and M trains; and the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal station with access to the A, C, and E trains.

YIMBY last reported that work on 560 Seventh Avenue was expected to be completed by this fall, although later in the year or sometime in early 2021 seems more likely.
