The site of the Hudson Arts Building at 220 Eleventh Avenue is gearing up for excavation in West Chelsea. Designed by Studios Architecture and developed by The Moinian Group, the glass-clad commercial office project will span a full block between West 25th Street and West 26th Street and feature ceiling heights exceeding 17 feet. JLL is the exclusive leasing agent for the property.

Photos from around the cleared and leveled site show two excavators sitting at the corner of the plot. A large banner on the adjacent blank wall displays a rendering and details of the project.

The building will feature column-free floor plans ranging from 17,500 to 25,000 square feet. The structure will be topped by a landscaped 11,000-square-foot roof deck.

Amenities will be located on the ground floor and include large bathing areas with showers, lockers, bicycle storage, and refill stations for bicycle tires. The ground floor will also feature a large retail component, though a tenant has yet to be confirmed.

The closest subways are the 7 train at Hudson Yards station and the C and E trains at the corner of West 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue. Both stations are about a ten-minute walk from 220 Eleventh Avenue.

We should expect to see excavation and work on the foundations progress through this spring and summer, while most of the above-ground construction and steel superstructure assembly should likely occur in 2021. The project is expected to open to tenants by 2022.

  1. Fuel from street level: Thanks to Michael Young.

  2. That’s some serious plate glasd on the ground level. We’ll see if that makes it to reality – very impressive if it will.

  3. Nice banner, let’s hope the actual building lives up to it.
