YIMBY checked in on 570 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn, the site of an approved 550-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Slate Property Group, the glass- and metal-clad tower will contain a mixture of market-rate apartments, affordable housing, retail, and office space.

Photos around the site show the state of progress on the project. Blue netting and scaffolding shroud the existing three-story low-rise structure at the address, but no demolition activity has occurred yet. It is unclear when demolition and construction on the new foundation and superstructure will commence.

The design includes landscaped outdoor terraces between the structure’s three tiers. These spaces will likely be part of the amenities package for future residents and office workers. 570 Fulton Street will be the tallest skyscraper on the block and will contribute to the blossoming skyline of Downtown Brooklyn.

The development is slated to yield 210,000 square feet, including 12,400 square feet of retail space spanning the first two floors. Offices will occupy 89,000 square feet on the floors directly above, with this space being marked toward smaller-sized companies. Residential units will occupy about 111,250 square feet, with 139 apartments expected to be created for an average of 800 square feet each. Thirty percent of these residences are dedicated to affordable housing. The closest subway is a short walk to the west at the DeKalb Avenue station, with access to the B, Q, and R trains. The 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains are also nearby at the Nevins Street station.

A completion date for 570 Fulton Street has yet to be announced.

  1. ‘Pizazz’..Brooklyn seems to have more of it these days than Manhattan.

  2. Why is Brooklyn becoming the next Manhattan. Fear of being in Manhattan because of the past. Let’s not make another target for the big Apple. Brooklyn was the calm place. While Manhattan was the excitement place

  3. Its not going up. The developer put the site up for sale.

  4. Developer is reportedly trying to sell this site

  5. No one wants to live in ugly white, no character (insane asylum) cells. The developer will try and get out. As the year progresses, hopefully no one will fall for the okey-doke. No one is renting these jail cells. Developer trying to sell, hope he loses his shirt, tie and pants.
