Permits have been filed for a 26-story mixed-use building at 125 West 57th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Located between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue, the lot is steps away from the 57th Street subway station, serviced by N and Q trains on Seventh Avenue and the F train at the 57th Street station on Sixth Avenue. Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 419-foot-tall development will yield 194,434 square feet, with 139,736 square feet designated for commercial space and 47,660 square feet for community facility space. The steel-based structure will also have a cellar and subcellar.

FXCollaborative is listed as the architect of record.

As YIMBY reported earlier this month, demolition permits were filed at the start of November. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. Thanks to YIMBY: I have a great desire to send to you, although we are not close and see each other. But I am confident that the goodness, that I intend to show is my honesty. Thank you for creating a report for me to read.

More of NYC’s historical heritage destoyed for the people who only care about money and themselves.

  3. A 26-story building to go up on West 57th almost seems like a ‘typo’..are you sure it isn’t 126 stories? 🙂

  4. What in the f–k ???

  5. I mean really, what in the f–k f–k f–kity f–k?

  6. With no delay tear down these dangerous buildings with ACs in each window. There is no historical or artistic value in 90% of the buildings on 57th st. and they are overdue for modernization.

  7. I would LOVE to know what’s going to happen to the smallish, architecturally-uninteresting buildings between 125 West 57th and the old Steinway Hall (aka 111 West 57th). They must be living on borrowed time.

  8. @Michael

It still boggles my mind, considering the potential profit that COULD have been reaped, why the developer of 111 didn’t wait to acquire those lots so 111 could have been built twice as wide. As beautiful as 111 is I think it would have been better if it was wider and all those additional units probably would have added 1 billion in profit. Crazy

  9. I also want to mention the height may be restricted due surrounding property air rights

Pity. But where market forces alone decide, some things are just too pretty to live. It’s like Rapunzel imprisoned for her beauty. The very beauty of this block of West 57th Street conferred a value on it that rmade it’s land too valuable for its current uses. Take a look at old photos of Grand Army Plaza before the elephantine GM Building and 9W57 moved in on it. Godzilla could not have done a better job of crushing it.
