Exterior work is wrapping up on One South First, the tallest new building to be constructed in the Williamsburg waterfront development of Domino Park. Formally addressed as 260 Kent Avenue, the reinforced concrete structure rises on the northern end of the master plan and is part of the large-scale revitalization of the Domino Sugar factory site. The 435-foot-tall mixed-use project will soon yield 330 rentals, 66 affordable units, and 150,000 square feet of office space among 22 floors, as well as 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. COOKFOX is the architect of the tower and Two Trees Management is the developer.

New photos from Domino Park and the surrounding streets show the presence and scale of One South First.

One South First will eventually be joined by two other buildings, which are planned to be larger in size and scale and have their own architecturally distinctive massings and exterior appearances. One of them will rise directly adjacent to the property and the other will be built on the southern end of Domino Park. Future occupants will have unobstructed views of Manhattan and plentiful amounts of sunlight, due to the lack of tall structures in the vicinity.

The entire redevelopment of the Domino Park project will present an emerging Brooklyn skyline along the East River. Meanwhile, the nearby ten-building master plan for Greenpoint Landing and The Greenpoint, aka 21 India Street, along with the stretch of construction by Long Island City will all form a long chain of towers that sit across from Manhattan’s famous skyline.

Completion of One South First is reportedly expected to happen before the end of 2019.

This is a really good design and the pure white facade frames haven’t stained yet. When will the brick shell Domino factory finally get rebuilt? That Trump Recession is coming…

  2. I AM getting old, and that building is certainly cool; but it certainly seems to have a lot more than 22 floors.

    • Office portion is 22 story, but residential floors 42 floors, residential floors are 10 feet high, while office floors in smaller section, below cantveliered section about 13,5 feet high.
This interesting two towered office residential complex.

  3. Wondering how the southern most building which is very close to the Williamsburg bridge will deal with the substantial train noise

  4. Always appreciate Michael Young’s reporting and excellent photos. How does NYYimby fund its site & generate income?

  5. Get up close and see the flat surfaces of the precast have been polished! Causes an interesting play on light and shadow.

  6. What’s the material on the window facade frames? Aluminum?
