Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 967 Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Located between Montgomery Street and Sullivan Place, the lot is three blocks north of the Sterling Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Colin Cohen of One Clove Road is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 162-foot-tall development will yield 132,256 square feet, with 53,678 square feet designated for residential space and 12,498 square feet for commercial use. The building will have 52 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,032 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have 39 enclosed parking spaces.

Caterina Roiatti of TRA Studio Architecture is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits were filed in May of this year. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

  1. More dam condos, and people really need real affordable housing, or better yet low income housing, these politican that over see crown heights has failed us, and you want us to vote democrat

  2. I blame the proliferation of multi-unit luxury residential buildings squarely at the feet of NYC Council Member & Majority Leader Laurie A. Cumbo of the 35th Council District – Brooklyn. Her district includes Crown Heights. She is a disgrace and is not fit to represent the people residing in the district. Nearby, a hotel is being constructed on Bedford Av between Eastern Pkwy & Union St which is across the street from the Bedford Union armory. Also, 111 Montgomery St near Washington Av (close to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden) will be a condo. An existing apartment building at 12 Crown St is now a condo. Another condo called The Plex (301 Sullivan Pl) is a condo. It seems to me that she has accepted money under the table from real estate lobbyists while the tenants keep getting shafted by corrupt & greedy landlords & developers. She needs to be replaced by a someone who truly cares about the needs of the people in the district. She needs to resign. CUMBO MUST GO NOW!! ??

It’s really hurtful that truly affordable housing is NOT being built in this area of Brooklyn as well as the neighborhoods served by the NYC Council District 35 (currently occupied by Laurie Cumbo, who is also the Council Majority Leader – her term ends in December 31st 2021). She has failed the working class in this area. It’s no wonder that the homeless population is exploding. She doesn’t listen to the working class. Hopefully who ever replaces her on January 1, 2022 will make truly affordable housing a priority.

  4. These are all as of right developments. Unfortunately it’s not economical to build affordable housing. Unless the city/ state provide major subsidies.Even conventional housing is so ridiculously expensive to build in NYC with layer upon layer of regulations. Astronomical insurance cost ( 10 times cost out of the city) . People are motivated by profits..So they take risks ,if they think that there will be a reward in the end.This is what make a the world turn.
