Permits have been filed for a 31-story mixed-use building at 200 East 34th Street in Kips Bay, Manhattan. Located on the corner of Third Avenue, the lot also known as 501 Third Avenue is two blocks east of the 33rd Street subway station, serviced by the 6 train. Xiaocheng Zhou under COA 200 East 34th LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 328-foot-tall development will yield 135,094 square feet, with 132,102 square feet designated for residential space and 2,992 square feet for commercial use. The building will have 144 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 917 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar.

Cetraruddy Architecture is responsible for the design.

Demolition permits have not been filed as of yet. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Save the historic facade, let them build higher. NYC will soon look like Dubai.

  3. This property has already been demolished…

  4. “Demolition permits have not been filed as of yet.” – I live a block away, just FYI demo is already completed, was done over the winter. The site is an empty lot right now.

    • At least one article a day here has a glaring mistake, whether it is the fact that this site was cleared over the winter, the planned Wegman’s in the Brooklyn Navy Yard “long-rumored” when it was announced over a year ago, while posting “new” images that were released by the Navy Yard months ago, or posting a convoluted article about a building in Hudson Yards that leaves many questions unanswered that could have been resolved with some basic reporting. I’m losing faith in this site.

    This was the Cavalier Hotel

  6. Despicable, unethical, inhumane -Xiaocheng Zhou , China Overseas company, Regal Construction…have made life during from the beginning of Covid on unbearable. The sleep deprivation and distress I have experienced from their 24/7 work at this property is deadly to me and the disease I am battling. I have been documenting the terror they cause this neighborhood everyday and every night. Working on exposing it to the public soon.
