Permits have been filed for a 12-story apartment building at 1 Sullivan Place in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Located between Washington Avenue and Franklin Avenue, the corner lot is five blocks north of the Prospect Park subway station, serviced by the B, Q, and S trains. Arthur Weiner under the 1 Sullivan Residences LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The proposed 119-foot tall development will yield 59,003 square feet, with 52,378 square feet designated for residential space. The building will have 54 residences, most likely rentals based on the average unit scope of 969 square feet. The masonry-based structure will also have a cellar and 32 enclosed parking spaces. The previous iteration of the proposal in November 2018 called for 48 apartment units ranging from one to three bedrooms.

Peter Bafitis of RKTB is listed as the architect of record.

Demolition permits will likely not be needed as the lot is vacant. An estimated completion date has not been announced.

Gentrification is a racist word. When the neighborhoods collapsed in the 1960-70 would that be called gentrification? Its life neighborhoods and prices are dictated by the times. As the neighborhoods went down in crime more affluent people move in and when they went up everyone moved out.

    • It does happen but as the 1st black family on my block in that neighborhood, it had nothing to do w crime and white flight in 1966. Crime came after white flight and the abandonment of service and protection.

  3. 1 Sul actually includes affordable and market rate housing. It is a requirement.
