Construction has topped out at 41 Blue Slip, the second building to rise in the Greenpoint Landing master plan. The reinforced concrete structure now stands 40 stories above the waterfront development. Handel Architects is the designer while Park Tower Group and Brookfield Property Partners are its developers. L+M Development Partners is the third developer of the mega project, but was not involved with this building. The project stands to the south of 37 Blue Slip, the first building to be erected at the Greenpoint, Brooklyn construction site. The glass and metal façade is steadily rising on all sides.

Recent photos from Roosevelt Island and the East River show the tower and its crown fully formed and ready to be enclosed. The elongated cylindrical top of 41 Blue Slip and its taller height distinguish it from its completed neighbor, 37 Blue Slip. Both are wrapped with dark-colored, floor-to-ceiling panels subdivided by subtle mullions that give more character and detail to the outside appearance. The property sits along the East River on the northern border of Brooklyn, across Newton Creek from Queens.

The tower at 41 Blue Slip will contribute more than 400 apartments to Greenpoint Landing’s total of 5,500, of which about 1,400 will be dedicated to affordable housing. There will also be a new K-8 public school and a James Corner Field Operations-designed waterfront park. The other eight towers will also rise along the East River and provide panoramic views of the Midtown and the setting sun behind the rising Manhattan skyline.

Completion of 41 Blue Slip looks likely to happen next year.
