Construction has reached street level at 11 Avenue C, aka 350 East Houston Street, a future ten-story mixed-use building designed by Rotwein+Blake Architects with SLCE as the architect of record. The structure will rise about 110 feet high and yield just under 50,000 square feet of space. Of this, 4,100 square feet will be dedicated to commercial use and 38,162 square feet to residential space divided among 45 apartments, averaging over 800 square feet apiece. The project is being developed by BLDG Management.

There are currently large amounts of rebar laid across the ground floor, with more ready to be set and ultimately prepared for the concrete pours. Several sections are being primed to form the reinforced concrete columns with the formwork yet to arrive on site. However, there is some uncertainty about the progress of construction. The above photos, which were taken several days ago during the middle of the week, show a total absence of workers. It is unclear why it appears to be quiet or for how long work has suspended.

The site for 11 Avenue C is located on the edge of a narrow parcel of land bound by East Houston Street and East 2nd Street. A small island of sidewalk and several large trees sit across the street from the eastern edge of the property where the confluence of East 2nd Street and East Houston Street converge. The closest subways are the F, M, J, and Z trains at Delancey Street-Essex Street and the F train at 2nd Avenue.

A completion date for 11 Avenue C has not been announced yet.
