Full demolition permits have been filed for the four-story building at 212 East 125th Street, in East Harlem, Manhattan. The 6,467-square-foot structure listed as built in 1900 has been used as industrial loft space, with two units across the four floors. The area is serviced by the 4,5,6 trains at the 125th Street station, one block away. It is unclear what plans are in store for the 2,523 square foot lot as no new building permits have been filed yet.

Jieming Wang of LMW Engineering Group, LLC is listed as the applicant of record for the demolition.

While the west side of 125th Street has seen an uptick of developments in the past few years, the same has not been true for East Harlem. Most notable is the 12-story, 75-unit mixed-use building at 69 East 125th Street and the 11-story, 233-unit mixed-use building at 149 East 125th Street. Just last month the Durst Organization filed preliminary permits for 110 East 125th Street, likely to be 4,500 square feet of commercial space.

According to Adam Hakimian of The Hakimian Organization, listed as the owner on the permit, it will be six months before plans for the lot will be released. Hakimian also filed for demolition of 214 East 125th Street directly next door, so eventual plans are likely to include an assemblage of several lots.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: I’m not sonorous when your report showed for developments. Thank you. (Hello YIMBY)

  2. The gentrifucation train is picking up speed. Guess they are gonna tear down the auto shop too, might as well since they had to move to Park ave under Metro. In Harlem 23 years..saw it coming

  3. That picture is of 213 on the North side of 125, not 212, which is on the South side.
