111 Murray Street’s Exterior Lift Comes Down, Ground Level Retail Base Finishes Up

Since YIMBY last checked on Tribeca‘s 111 Murray Street, the exterior mechanical elevator has started to come down, while the ground level retail base and exterior finishes are also wrapping up. The building is officially complete, and ready for immediate occupancy.

The 64-story, 792-foot-tall residential skyscraper, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, and developed by Witkoff Group and Fisher Brothers, with sales handled by Douglas Elliman, is the second tallest building in Tribeca, after 56 Leonard. It contains 157 apartments, with two full-floor penthouse units on the top levels that include the only set of dual balconies in the northeast and southwest corners of the building.

Looking west from Murray Street and Church Street, the final touches on the crown are well underway as the framing begins to be assembled, with the last glass panels soon to be installed. With the exterior elevator coming down, the signature curved profile of the building now begins to really show when looking north and south or from the east. This distinct tapered gesture allows for larger units on the top floors, which have 360-degree views of Lower Manhattan and uninterrupted views of Midtown, when looking north.

At the base, the ADA accessible ramp is nearly complete, while work on the landscaping will soon follow, surrounding the building and separating it from street, sidewalk, and pedestrian traffic. A private garden and green wall featuring a waterfall will be located on the north side, for the residents.

The main 10,000 square foot public plaza on the east side of the property, designed by Hollander Design, is the last part to be finished, since it was used as the staging area for construction. It takes up about half the size of the project site and will have a green lawn, water features, landscaping, and seating areas. A separate retail section will be on the easternmost side that includes the ventilation and mechanical units that service the building and basement levels.

Closings have already begun, and disassembly of the scaffolding covering the sidewalks along West Street should happen imminently.
