Mixed-Use 1595 Broadway Makes Quick Headway in Bushwick, Brooklyn

Rendering of 1595 Broadway

Construction is making quick headway on a seven-story mixed-use building in Bushwick, Brooklyn, following permit applications filed in September of 2017, as first reported by YIMBY. Located at 1595 Broadway, the structure is being designed by Diego B Aguilera Architects for local developer Bawbeh United, of Williamsburg.

The structure will contain 49,284 gross square feet, designed for residential, commercial, and community facility use. The project will yield 21,916 square feet of residential area divided among 32 apartments. At just under 685 square feet apiece, rental units are most likely. Unspecified commercial area will occupy 5,684 square feet, while the slightly larger community facility will measure 7,729 square feet.

A parking structure accounts for the remaining square footage and will eventually accommodate 16 vehicles.

Renderings posted at the project construction site illustrate a rather large new design towering above a long-shuttered, low-rise restaurant and neighboring medical office. However, 1591 Broadway, the corner property, is expected to yield its own mid-rise structure. The latter is now owned or under development by Bawbeh United of Williamsburg.

  1. Please pardon me for using your space: Total. (Thank-you)

  2. So awkward, when multi-millionaire developers can’t buy out that stubborn little one-story retail so they can exploit the full footprint of the space. Chalk one up for the little guy.

  3. Thats going to be an interesting corner lot condition until they decide to build up too. They should paint the stucco lot-line walls a super bright pink color and make the entire street-corner artsy.
