In late June, permits were filed for what will be the tallest structure in the Mount Eden neighborhood of The Bronx. Now, YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for the design of the 15-story building at 1331 Jerome Avenue, courtesy of GF55 Partners. The project will bring commercial, residential, and community facilities to the neighborhood.

The design features steel and precast concrete planks. The main material for the façade will be iron spot brick, with textured and smooth metal panels facing the avenues.

According to GF55 Partners’ founder, David Gross, the design intends to, “create a building that communicates on an urban scale and a pedestrian scale. The urban scale is achieved with the regular brick bays that are seen from a distance while the confetti-like pattern of the randomly placed panels provides a visual counterpoint to that bay geometry.”

The 159-foot tall structure will yield 221,060 square feet within, with 19,200 square feet dedicated to ground floor retail, 68,970 square feet for supportive housing, and 97,800 square feet for residential use.

110 class-A apartments will be created, averaging 890 square feet apiece, indicating rentals. An additional 145 units will be dedicated for non-profit sleeping accommodations. Residents will have access to a laundry room, lobby, outdoor recreation space, and a 128-bicycle garage.

Peter Fine is responsible for the development.

  1. Very misleading rendering and photo. 1331 Jerome Avenue is under the Jermome Avenue #4 elevated line.

  2. Please pardon me for using your space: I can feel nothing bad on the best design.

  3. rendering fails to include the Jerome ave el, lower 3 floors will be under it.

  4. Funny how the developers appears to have forgotten to put in the rendering of the #4 trains El (runs constantly). A way to deceive those who are not from the area. This area is a bit rough around the edges and nonNY’s will be greeted with all that NYC GRIT.

  5. Being adjacent to the train is a good thing. I’ve been inside another building that was just opened a few months ago along the elevated and you can’t hear a thing.

  6. Who else thinks this building would look a lot better without those weird giant frames of dark-gray brick?
